Initiative Partners

Program partners are essential to successfully implementing The Century Council’s programs in communities across America.

Our partners are involved from program creation to program implementation. In addition to our National Advisory Board members, we have advisory boards for education, traffic safety, Hispanic programs, and judicial education. These boards provide expertise on our key issues and program creation. See our National Advisory Board page for a full list of our members.

We pride ourselves on the partners who help create our programs such as Nickelodeon, the Society for Women’s Health Research, The United States Women’s Soccer Players Association, the American School Counselors Association, George Mason University, The American Advertising Federation, the Ad Council, the National Judicial College and the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, to name just a few. See our Program Partners page for a complete list of our partners.

In addition to our advisory boards and our program partners, we also involve elected officials in our program implementation process at the community level. These program launches are held in various community sites depending on the program. In the past those sites have included schools and universities, retail establishments, soccer camps, and state and national conferences. More than 500 elected officials have participated in our programs since we were founded in 1991. Governors, lieutenant governors, attorneys general, Members of Congress, and state and local legislators have all teamed up with us to reach children and parents with important messages and strategies regarding the prevention of underage drinking and drunk driving.

Attorney General Patrick Lynch

"It's important that parents establish a dialogue with their children about the dangers of underage drinking when they are in middle school. Statistics bear this out, as well as the kids themselves. Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don't Mix is a viable tool to help kids resist peer pressure and other influences that lead many of them to try alcohol for the first time around the age of 12."
- Attorney General Patrick Lynch

In 2005, General Lynch partnered with The Century Council at a middle school in Providence to launch Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don't Mix .

General Lynch also brought the Brandon Tells His Story program to 6 different high schools in Providence from 2005 through 2006.

In 2007 he partnered with us, in addition to Siri Mullinix of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team, to present Girl Talk: Choices and Consequences of Underage Drinking. General Lynch visited a high school to discuss the dangers of teen drinking with 75 female students and athletes.

Most recently, General Lynch participated in 2007's We Don't Serve Teens Week, a nationwide campaign designed to deter underage drinking by reminding adults that providing underage drinkers with alcohol is unsafe, illegal, and irresponsible. General Lynch kicked off the campaign in Rhode Island with a press event in Providence.

The Century Council honored Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch for his outstanding commitment to reducing drunk driving and underage drinking on August 26th.

"As the current President of the National Association of Attorneys General; General Lynch has dedicated his Presidential term to improving the safety of our nation's children," said Brandy Nannini, Vice President of Government Relations for The Century Council. "We applaud Attorney General Lynch's leadership and honor him for the progress he has made to reduce drunk driving and underage drinking not only in Rhode Island, but across the United States."
